Raw Dog Food - Safety and Handling

Safe handling of any raw meat product is essential not only for your health, but for the health of your dog.

Safe handling procedures

To thaw, remove from bag, place in a container with a lid and defrost in the refrigerator. Do not re-freeze the BARF® patties and nuggets once they have been thawed. Food will spoil if left unrefrigerated for an extended period of time. Excess food should be refrigerated for the next feeding or discarded.

Always thoroughly wash your hands before and after handling raw patties and nuggets. All surfaces where food has been prepared or come into contact with must also be thoroughly cleaned with warm soapy water after each use.

Make sure that frozen food remains at a frozen state and constant temperature otherwise freezer burn can occur. Seal all bags by removing excess air before closing. Freezer burn diminishes nutritional value as well as taste.

Only Thaw the Amount You Require to Feed Your Pet For 3 Days. Any Thawed Food Older Than 3 Days Should Be Discarded.
